YouthSeen exists to make sure QTBIPoC youth and families never have to walk alone. We know that healing doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in community, through connection, creativity, and care that affirms every part of who we are.
Founded in Denver in 2017 by Dr. tara jae, YouthSeen merges mental health services with joy-filled, culturally rooted spaces reaching across Colorado and beyond. From therapy and family support groups to arts-based programs, youth leadership opportunities, and advocacy, our work is about building a world where thriving isn’t the exception — it’s the expectation.
At YouthSeen, we believe healing is political, and thriving is our protest. We are an intergenerational movement creating futures where our youth, families, and communities are seen, supported, and celebrated.
Our Foundation
YouthSeen’s Mission:
The mission of Youth Seen is to foster and empower the social and emotional well-being of LGBTQI youth and their families in all communities.
YouthSeen’s Vision:
Youth Seen envisions a society where people are empowered as individuals to access non-judgmental and unbiased treatment in every aspect of their lives. We encourage the creative creation of a community that celebrates everyone’s worth, diverse characteristics and dignity.
Our organization works with our communities and stands as a leader in our local Colorado area, and beyond, for establishing partnerships with groups who specifically tailor their resources, education and outreach to our youth and young BIPoC + LGBTQIA+ community. Youth Seen strives to highlight the intersections that many communities of color face when addressing social issues that impact families that identify under the umbrella of LGBTQI. This also includes our community members identifying as gender non-conforming, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer and two spirit, which is often left out of the mainstream language around services.
Given the current political climate, YouthSeen acknowledges the need for our vision to be a living framework which can and will be updated based on the needs of the community. As we are QTBIPoC providers in the community, it is our responsibility to keep the needs in focus despite what the current administration and local agenda supporters perceive.
